Casting of the grooves on the front is not quite 100, but still ok (hence "only" 4 stars). The clamping function itself is sturdy and gets a good grip. It takes quite a bit of space in the depths (ie between the body and the needle) but I have not experienced it as a real problem. I usually want the needle just below half, but there the tie becomes a bit wider, so if I had a choice, the needle could have been a few millimeters longer, but neither is this a real problem :-)
