Black is the new blackThe men’s black belt is a wardrobe staple for all men. Other colours have their place, for sure, but the good old faithful is the men’s black belt. Black is the easiest colour to match and to wear which you can reach for in any situation. Everyone needs black and every man needs a black belt.
Thick or thinYou thought it was as simple as just choosing a black belt, but you were wrong. We have some decisions to make here; it may be that you are going to need more than one of these items. Take a look at the belt loops of the trousers that you plan to wear your men’s black belt with. What size are they? It is obviously of the utmost importance that you purchase a belt that actually fits through these loops. I know, that’s so obvious that it doesn’t need saying, but you’d be surprised. Not all of us were blessed with your excellence in the cerebral region.
A thinner belt is perfect for workwear, suit trousers and light casual slacks and linen pants. You don’t want a big chunky mofo for that kind of look. Chunky is for super casual, jeans, chinos and the like. A rough guide is the chunkier the fabric, the chunkier the belt.
Buckle upAnd it’s not just about the belt itself, it’s also about the buckle. This is where you get to really define your look. Take a look at our range. It’s a great selection.
Again, as with the thickness of the belt itself, it’s important to get the buckle right for the occasion. Showing up for a meeting with the boss brandishing a skull and crossbones across your midriff might not do you any favours, but will be fine at a gig, but maybe not a wedding. I guess it depends who is getting married. Each to their own. Keep it simple, keep it subtle for the thinner belts for formal wear and you can take it up a notch for downtime and weekend.
Check your lengthMost men’s belts come in regular sizes, so if you are a super skinny or a supersize gentlemen you will need to check that this is the right product for you. Making a few extra holes is an easy task (just add the hole puncher to your cart), but if it’s not going to make its way round where you need it, it’s not going to be the belt for you.
